Description

For Arkneos404 VIA the Creature-Exchange.  Jengu are the African version or a mermaid.

1 - What parts of your prompt were written well and easy to understand? Was there anything the writer of the prompt could improve on or include next time they create a prompt?
I have zero complaints about the prompt.  It gave me a lot of freedom while my chosen knew what they wanted.

2 - Please explain how you interpreted the prompt to create your design. Which features did you use? Did you stick to the chosen palette or make changes to it? Does the design you created have any special abilities or quirks?
I chose Lionfish for the fish because it is found around Africa.  When I draw mermaids, I try to make them believable creatures rather than something purely cut and paste so while the long hair was part of the mythology, I chose to make it tentacle-like rather than actual hair.  I also went minimal with the clothing and accessories since I don't picture mermaid-like creatures wearing much other than a few tasteful accessories.

The censoring was done because I didn't know if tasteful nudity was allowed in the group.  Arkneos, if you want the high res, uncensored version, just let me know.

Hey there! Sorry for the late comment - I didn't want to say anything until after I had posted my own creature!


This design is absolutely gorgeous! I love that you kept the entire design blended. I much prefer mermaids that look like actual creatures and not two things spliced together! I'm also very happy that you put her gills on her ribcage and not on her neck. I adore the African-style accessories you gave her as well! The necklace and headband are super beautiful and match very will with her markings, and the lionfish details are perfectly placed on her body to make her actually like like a lionfish. I love it! Thank you so much for her! This is perfect.

PS: I would love it if you could note me the link to a high res, uncensored version of this design. ^.^
