G - Jessev - YoungGryphon 3

It is the Queen's custom to give a speech to all of the young gryphs before they are promoted to adults, and the old bat does drone on. Attend the ceremony or find some way to weasel out of it.

Jessev had arrived at the speech an hour early to make sure that he was in the front row. In his mind, his promotion to adulthood was long overdue. He knew that some of his peers had plans to weasel out of the ceremony, but Jessev was intrigued at the idea of hearing her majesty give a lecture.

The queen strided into the room. Though her massive body size made her appear more like she was waddling like a duck.

"This will be intellectually stimulating!" he thought to himself. He then proceeded to look around at the other young gryphons that he had grown up with. The queen's words will surely be lost on them!

Queen Titania cleared her throat.

"I remember all of you when you were but mere eggs," she started, "Today is truely a day for you all to feel thankful and proud. You all have MUCH to be thankful for. Parents who love you, the fine name of this great Aery, and myself as your Queen. I know that I can be the one who you all can turn to in times of crisis.

"Ah! Excuse me!" Jessev interupted in a misguided attempt to be helpful, "But the correct word to use in that sentence it 'whom'. You are the one 'whom' we can turn to."

"Erm, ahhh, yes," Titania stuttered, obviously taken back by Jessev's outburst, "Ahh... moving on. One thing you can also be thankful for is each other. You have all grown up side by side and have blossomed from little balls of fluff to the majestic Grandesque gryphons that you are today. I remember when I was a little gryphon your age...."

"Your Majesty," Jessev interupted once more, "I really don't see how a story of your misguided youth has any relevance to the situation here today."

The queen's eyes narrowed. How dare this little urchin insult her so. She grinded her beak as her anger rose.

"Excuse me, young man! Obviously YOU should be the one up here giving the speech rather then myself since you appear to be such an expert."

Jessev was a genius when it came to science and mathmatics, but he was clueless when it came to society and protocols and reading the emotions of others. Her sarcasm was lost on his ears.

"Well, I've never given a public speech before... but okay. If you insist." Jessev said as he worked his way towards the front and sat down next to the Queen, obviously not hearing the murmers of disbelief coming from the crown of his peers."

"Now, as the Queen was TRYING to say," he continued, "We must all look forwards to the future..."

Jessev was sitting in an uncomfortable position between his butt and thighs after Skoomah had thrown him out of the great hall. He looked back and shouted, "THAT was uncalled for!" before picking himself up and heading home.

After this incident, Jessev probably would have been kicked out of the Grandesque aery if his mother hadn't taken an audience with the queen shortly after this incident to explain how Jessev is one of "The God's special creatures".

Regardless, this has left Titania with a personal dislike for Jessev that will follow him through the rest of his life and will likely show up in other challenges.
