Happy Shark Week (Male Vrias)

A quickie that I did as part of my warm up before working on my calender pictures.

It's shark week, so I decided to illustrate a Vrias to celebrate. This is the first time I've made these guys public!

Vrias are one of my alien races. They're humanoids that evolved from sharks that hail from the cold planet, Costion. They are considered an 'Unevolved Race' in the eyes of the Galactic Alliance, since they have not yet discovered hyperspace travel. However, a lot of eyes from the alliance are on them because they're getting close. A few centuries away because as far as technology and temprament goes, they're as close to modern day humans as one of my alien species gets.

While it's too soon to tell what their role among the alliance will be when they finally join, they are beginning to lean towards exploration or shipwrights, since even now their abilities with ships, submarines and navigation are catching the attention of the alliance.

This is pretty much my set design for males of the species. They're big, hulking creatures that are more or less based on Terrafin from Skylanders. I haven't finalized the look of the females yet, but as of now they are also big and muscular (though not as much as males), and lack breasts.

I know I may get crap for this, but both genders lack the trademark fin of their shark ancestors. Unofficially it's because I never really liked the look of any of the fin placements on shark anthros... but since they're evolving to be complete land-dwellers, it didn't make a lot of sense for them to have one.
