Liah the comes to the rescue! She's a member of the Imperial Suns, but does not wear a uniform since she's not an 'official' member of the Imperial Navy. She's a member of the Blackmane Order, an intergalactic order of Beastmasters who was hired by the Suns for her abilities.

Like I'd kill off one of my favorite characters (and a fan favorite among my beta readers) before the halfway point of the first issue. Riiiight. >_>
