Sunset in Alere

Description

I've been unhappy with my line art style for a while and have been working to come up with something I'm happy with for quite some time. I've been playing with an all digital inking style with Sai and am mostly happy with it. I'll be using this style quite a bit in the future, but I'm going to play around with it a little more before officially offering commissions in this style.

Two Jincilla, an original species of mine have a chat in one of the many structures in their capitol city, Alere.
I played a little with architecture because it's one of my weak points as an artist and I rarely ever touch it. The Jincilla culture is akin to our ancient Greeks and Romans. Their structures reflect this, but are much more open... and are usually carved right into the sides of mountains. This piece was definitely inspired by Raphael's "Philosophy"... which happens to be my favorite Renaissance painting.

The Jincilla with the book is definitely a scholar or philosopher... but the other carries the spear of a Hoplite or city guard but is not armored enough to be one. So... make up your own story, I guess. :)

Very lovey especially with your choice of the coor pal lye of lavenders, lilacs and orilandro. I'm supposing one is male ( probably the taller one with the spear) and the other is female, but I could be wrong. I like how you can see the mountains in the background, it adds a lot of detail to the picture.

Hmm…as you said the they're akin and pertain to Greeks,Romans and probably somewhat to Babylayns., so are the pillar structures rigged like Romans and Greeks or are they smoote? And anther question, are those symbols/sigils in the background their history, religion, writing, art, etc, of something or someone. The marks near the ceiling, if it has one. :?
