The Brotherhood

Drawings of a few characters in a sci-fi/gladiator story that I've been working on while I try to regain energy to actually work on the comic that is my main story in my fictional galaxy.

I've been writing Deren's backstory. Part 1 is completely finished and I've begun working on part two. There will be 5 parts total and I will post them publicly (I'm just waiting for a few of my beta readers to give me feedback for part 1 so I can revise it and post it). Part 2 will focus more on Deren's days in the arena, which means some of the other gladiators in Deren's ludus will show up in the story at one point, so I've decided to illustrate a few of them. These characters are all slaves that fight under the banner of the Faceless. They see each other as brothers... even though they are all well aware that they may one day be forced to kill each other in the arena. After Deren is freed, he spends a lot of his time looking for the others so that he may also free them.

The main three that show up in the story are the three in the center. 

At the very center is Deren, the main protagonist of that particular story.  I won't go into much detail about him here since I've already revealed so much of his backstory in the previous pictures I've drawn of him (his character sheet in particular) so I'd just be repeating myself.

To Deren's left is Turresh, the Doctore (main gladiator trainer) of the Ludus while on his right is Niav, the only female gladiator that will show up in the story.  She has a bit of a thing for alien men (I'm considering her being in a romantic relationship with Red, the red panda looking alien on the far right).  Most, if not all of the other gladiators shown here will make an appearance at one point or another in the story.  I won't get into detail about them here, but if you're curious about one of them, feel free to ask.

There are other gladiators in Deren's ludus.  Some of them are killed, sold off or just used as background characters.  These are just the main ones that I plan on giving a speaking role to.

Yes... Deren is really tall.
